EP!C & ignite (students)

Connect-Equip-Lead-Give opportunity.

That is the stated purpose of the EP!C & ignite Student Teams. We are going to connect with students on a personal level, equip them with the tools of the gospel to have an abundant life, lead them into a life of holiness, and give them the opportunity to be used by God with their talents, gifts, and callings. Connect-Equip-Lead-Give Opportunity.

We are a true STUDENT ministry, which ministers to the student as an individual. The word ‘youth’ is a dirty word around EP!C and ignite students. The word ‘youth’ denotes someone who can’t be used by God until they are older and more experienced. The staff of EP!C & ignite student ministries strive to create a culture where that mantra is totally destroyed. 1 Timothy 4:12 states that THIS is THEIR time to be used by God. It is not our job to teach them how to worship, how to minister, and how to grow – it’s their job to teach us. We believe that this is the greatest generation that God has ever created and THIS is their time! We strive to help students plug in and stay plugged in. God has a great story to write for their lives!

The EP!C & ignite leadership teams are committed to enriching students lives by teaching the word of God in a way that connects with their generation, by helping create a culture of love where God is allowed to move in our lives, and by assembling students in both church and non-church activities. Our vision is to be a generation of students and student leaders who are Christians in our life, faith, speech, and work. We will effectively connect and change the world around us by our deep relationship with God and His Word, and we are going to have fun while doing it!

The EP!C (Sr High) and Ignite (Jr High) student ministries gather every monday night at our student facility for ‘Episode’ – our student ministry service. Between 60-80 students from all over Jeff Davis Parish gather to experience fun games, great music, amazing worship, and creative preaching and teaching to connect with students and their real issues that they face in our culture. We believe in fulfilling their desire to connect and have fun, in doing so they will fulfill our desire of connecting them with Christ.

The students at JWC are sectioned into two groups. Our Senior High group is called ‘EP!C’, which means very imposing or impressive, surpassing the ordinary. We feel that is exactly what this generation is. This is the greatest generation that God has ever created, to reach a world that is in so much need.

Our Junior High group is called ‘ignite’. To ignite something means to ’cause to start’. Our ignite group does just that. We know that students, even in Jr High, are hungry to know more of God and to become a powerful witness for HIM! In ignite those passions, goals, and desires are ignited, then we simply step back and watch those students do big things for God.

EP!C & Ignite student ministries strive to use every available tool to connect and stay connected to as many students as possible. Everything from a Facebook page that allows students to hang out and talk about our group, up coming events, and most importantly witness, to the use of Twitter, email, and text messaging – whatever it takes to help our students stay connected.
